My new Herbal Bath Mixes are ready!!
I started making these for Farrell's Pharmacy & Hallmark (my in-laws store) about a year ago. My mother-in-law and I found a book called Moon Bath by Dakota Hills and Sierra Brashear when we were ordering books for the store and couldn't resist! It details a bath recipe and ritual to do with each phase and season of the moon as a way to relax, connect, and slow down. Basically you put together your herbs in a french press, then pour in your hot water and let them steep for about 20 minutes, making a strong tea for your bath. Meanwhile, you fill your tub, the recipe might call for a yoga pose or a lit candle or other accessory, and you fill your tub while you wait for the herbs to steep. Then you strain your herbal bath tea into your tub, add any sea salt or extra essential oil that the recipe calls for, and get in!
We ordered bulk herbs for the baths (which seems to be about the only way to get them), so our cabinets were completely full of herbs after about 2 seasons! That's when I decided to mix up our bulk herbs into individual baths so we could supply them in smaller batches to our customers.
I love these baths- any excuse to soak in a warm tub in the quiet sounds good to me! And I like how the herbs were chosen for their properties, like warming, relaxing, cleansing, etc. So I decided to make some of my own!
I'd read a few books on herbalism and using herbs to support a healthy body and I love the idea of growing your own sort of medicine. So these new recipes have herbs that are known to support immune health, skin health, relaxation, and sensuality.
If you'd like to try them, I set up an Etsy shop called Willow Herb Co, and these mixes are all available at Farrell's in McCook! All the mixes on Etsy are sold in bags with 3 baths worth of herbs, while we do have some options for single baths at Farrell's.
Happy Bathing!!
